Case Study Overview
SMS were employed to refurbish the mechanical services required at the University of Warwick Biotechnology Laboratory. The project consisted of a new mechanical ventilation system install comprising a new standalone air handling unit complete with ductwork system, above ground drainage and hot and cold water distribution; also, the installation and connections of a BMS and automatic controls.
Installation of a new purpose built standalone mechanical ventilation system, capable of supplying temperature controlled fresh air to the lab: through a purposefully designed supply and extract ventilation ductwork system, discharged through lamina flow diffusers and 4way extract grilles.
The public health services consisted of local point of use water heaters, installation of mains cold water services (MCWS) and Reverse Osmosis (RO water) services within the laboratory, all connected to a vulcathene drainage system.
Side wide heating, chilled water and compressed air services had to be modified and extended to serve various areas within the newly created spaces.
BMS temperature sensors were installed in each room and modifications were made to the Honeywell BMS front end.
