SMS were appointed as the mechanical and electrical contractor working from a consultant’s brief to supply, install and commission a project to upgrade a school heating system during the summer holiday.

Careful consideration had to be given to the works as the environment contained asbestos; therefore requiring special attention as to how works were carried out and resulting in all services being supported from the floor or independent of walls.

Regular air tests were carried out by a specialist asbestos analyst to monitor and prevent asbestos exposure. 

Despite these challenges the project was successfully completed on time.
