Case Study Overview
Staffordshire Mechanical Solutions were appointed to upgrade the lighting system, replace existing cast iron radiators, and to refurbish the existing supply and extract air handling units including the upgrade of the air handling unit control panels.
The lighting refurbishment works consisted of replacing existing fittings to energy efficient LEDs including the installation of presence control sensor switching in all areas and a new emergency lighting system throughout the building. The lighting works were completed outside of normal working hours so that the building could remain operational.
On the second floor, all cast iron radiators were replaced with new pressed steel panel radiators complete with thermostatic radiator valves. To prevent disruption, all works were completed over the Easter weekend.
The six existing supply and extract air handling units have been completely refurbished with energy efficient EC motors, local air sensors, and new electric heater batteries. SMS upgraded the control panels to promote energy savings. These refurbishment works were completed outside of normal operational hours.
Works were completed within the programmed time and on budget with close coordination with the client to minimise disruption.
